Sada Baby’s latest run-in with the law has landed him in jail, and in the spotlight once again, thanks to a now-viral mug shot. The Detroit rapper, known offstage as Casada Sorrell, is currently locked up at Macomb County Jail following his arrest on a felony drug charge, according to FOX 2 Detroit.
The situation traces back to a traffic stop in January. Officers say they pulled Sorrell over in Shelby Township for driving with tinted windows and discovered he also had an outstanding warrant. After searching the vehicle, police reportedly found what they believed to be illegal substances. The material was sent to a lab, and results recently confirmed it was narcotics. That triggered a warrant for his arrest, which police executed earlier this week.
Sorrell is now facing a felony charge for possession of less than 25 grams of a controlled substance, believed to be narcotics or cocaine. Authorities say the warrant originated from Sterling Heights and that Sorrell was also driving without a valid license at the time of the initial stop.
The timing couldn’t be more ironic. Just last year, in January 2023, Sorrell opened up about getting clean, revealing he had walked away from a $20,000 lean addiction. “I kicked it,” he said at the time.
Despite his legal troubles, Sada Baby’s music career remains notable. He first broke out in 2018 with the viral hit “Bloxk Party,” and has since built a large online following. His YouTube channel has nearly 700,000 subscribers, and his track “Pressin” has surpassed 70 million views.
As of now, there’s no word on when Sorrell will be arraigned, but that unforgettable mug shot is already making the rounds online.
