Drake recently opened up about losing friends during a Toronto show, just days after unfollowing several people on Instagram. At the event, the rapper reflected on the theme of his song “No Friends in the Industry,” calling out those who switched sides on him.
“My real friends are definitely in the building,” Drake said, “but I’m gonna tell you: You’re going to come to a point in life where people you thought were friends, or people you thought were close to you, they might switch up. They might try to move funny with you. They might stab you in the back. They might do a lot of things to you. You’ll come to that realization, wherever you’re at in life. You’ve probably been there, and you’ll be there again. That’s how life is. But look, sometimes it’s you and you alone by yourself. Sometimes it’s you alone with your thoughts.”
Drake then sent a message to those who wanted him gone by playing 50 Cent’s “Many Men” and later switched to Beyoncé’s “Me, Myself and I.” Fans have linked his remarks to his rumored feud with Kendrick Lamar, and his recent Instagram unfollow spree, which included Future, Playboi Carti, LeBron James, and DeMar DeRozan.
Drake is also reportedly working on a joint album with PartyNextDoor, although no release date has been announced.
