Frank Ocean’s career started strong more than a decade ago, but things have been quiet for a long time now. The R&B powerhouse hasn’t released a new album in eight years, and he hasn’t given any sign that another full-length is on its way.

For many musicians, that kind of hiatus would be a death sentence when it came to their careers. These days, fans expect a constant stream of content from the artists they love, but a few stars buck that trend. Ocean isn’t afraid to space out his releases, and clearly his following doesn’t seem to mind much, as they are not only still listening, they’re constantly pushing his few projects to new chart highs.

This week, Ocean’s full-length Blonde climbs again on the Top Streaming Albums chart. This frame, the singer-songwriter’s latest collection improves from No. 21 to No. 20.

Blonde might not soar very far, but that one position is important to the title. Ocean has never landed so high on the Top Streaming Albums chart before, and he’s been owning new highs fairly regularly, even though he hasn’t shared anything new.

In only the past few months, Blonde has reached a new all-time peak on the Top Streaming Albums chart more than once. In fact, this week marks at least the third time this fall that the now-classic R&B title has lifted and settled in a slot it’s never reached previously.

Just last week, Blonde improved to No. 21, which stood as the title’s best placement…but only for a few days. Back in September, the project hit two new peaks. First, it rose to No. 25, and then a short time later, it pushed forward again and landed at No. 23.

Ocean has managed to place both of his traditional studio albums onto the Top Streaming Albums chart, which was introduced years after both of those efforts were released. While Blonde has surged to No. 20, its predecessor, Channel Orange, has only barely made it to the tally. That introductory set has thus far peaked at No. 49 on the 50-spot list.

The Grammy winner released Blonde in 2016. The album arrived one day after his visual album Endless. In the eight years since then, Ocean hasn’t delivered a complete project of any kind. He has shared a few songs here and there, but for the most part, he’s focused on other things and let his music career sit on the back burner.
