11 years old North West, daughter of both Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) and Kim Kardashian, seems to be no different from most young people. She’s following in her father’s footsteps in the music world, but one thing that separates her apart from many other kids is commercial success.
West is back on the Billboard chart this week with a brand-new hit. The not-yet teenager doesn’t just land on a list, she scores a top 10 hit on a tally that she’s never reached before.
FKA Twigs recruited West to feature on her song “Childlike Things.” That tune opens at No. 6 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart, which was introduced only a few weeks ago.
West and Twigs land the loftiest debut on the latest edition of the Hot Dance/Pop Songs ranking. In fact, all five new arrivals on the tally this time around come from Twigs, who occupies one-third of the entire roster.
West may only be 11 years old, but this isn’t the first time she’s scored a hit on the Billboard charts. In fact, while the appropriately titled “Childlike Things” does mark her debut appearance on this list, she has previously appeared on several others, even managing to crack the top 10 on more than one of them.
One of four children from one of rap music’s most successful and controversial figures debuted on the Billboard charts almost exactly a year ago. In February 2024, she joined both her father and Ty Dolla $ign, who combined to form a supergroup titled ¥$ on the track “Talking.” That tune debuted and peaked at No. 12 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 30 on the all-important Hot 100.
As it arrived on those tallies, the cut also managed to start inside the top 10 on a trio of other lists. “Talking” rose highest on the Rap Streaming Songs chart, where it peaked at No. 7. It came in just one spot below that position on the slightly more welcoming R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs roster. The cut rose all the way to No. 9 on the all-consumption Hot Rap Songs chart as well.
