Rihanna’s song Diamonds rang true on Friday as she achieved another major accomplishment in her career.

The 36-year-old singer made history as she broke another record and was named the top solo female artist with the most diamond-certified hits in her acclaimed discography.

She took to X, formerly Twitter, to humbly brag about the new notch in her belt and wrote: ‘Ain’t no back [and] forth.

The multihyphenate artist — who said she has ‘a lot of visual ideas’ for a new album last month —  had previously been tied with several other artists with three diamond releases.

However, she has now earned another four diamond certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), leaving her competitors behind as she now has a record-breaking total of seven.

According to the official RIAA website, her and Jay-Z’s 2007 collaborative hit Umbrella earned a diamond plaque as well as Work, her 2016 release with Drake.

Anti’s Needed Me and Unapologetic’s Stay have also reached diamond-certified status as of May 31.

Very fittingly, the announcement comes shortly after her 2012 single Diamonds also went diamond in April.

Her diamond discography also includes her 2010 collaborative hit song with Eminem, Love the Way You Lie, which was diamond-certified in May 2013.

Her and Calvin Harris’ 2011 single We Found Love also earned her a shining bright plaque in April 2023.

In celebration of the major feat, she tweeted a graphic naming her the ‘Most Diamond Singles for a Female Artist’ as well as ‘Most Diamond Certified Titles for a Female Artist.’

Her music label Roc Nation, which was founded by Jay-Z in 2008, also congratulated her for making music history with her seven diamond plaques.

Her loyal fanbase also joined in on the celebration but pointed out that they are still waiting for R9 as it has been eight years — and four months and one day, to be exact, or 100 months total — since she dropped Anti in 2016.

Although Rihanna has never officially announced her retirement from music, it doesn’t appear to be one of her priorities.

In recent years, she has remained busy and kept focused on other projects, including her makeup line Fenty Beauty, skincare brand Fenty Skin and lingerie label Savage X Fenty.

Most importantly, the Work hitmaker took on the role of motherhood after she welcomed her and A$AP Rocky’s two children, sons RZA and Riot, in May 2022 and August 2023, respectively.

Although she hasn’t released a full-length album in several years, Rihanna occasionally returns to the stage to perform when there are major opportunities.

Last year, she headlined the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show — during which she revealed she was pregnant with her second child.

In March, she took the stage for her first full concert in eight years while performing at the private, pre-wedding celebration for billionaire heir Anant Ambani’s nuptials to Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar, India.

For her performance, the nine-time Grammy winner was reportedly paid around $6 to $9 million.

The following month, just several weeks ago, she said she has ‘a lot of visual ideas’ for R9 but admitted she hasn’t made any songs yet while talking to Interview Magazine.

And last year, Rihanna also touched on the possibility of making new music as she declared Anti her ‘most brilliant album’ and explained why that upped the ante for her follow-up.

In her March 2023 British Vogue cover story, she said: ‘It always felt like the most cohesive album I’ve ever made.’

For that reason, she said there is ‘pressure’ to deliver after Anti, which earned her six Grammy nominations.

‘There’s this pressure that I put on myself,’ she said about her tendency towards perfectionism. ‘That if it’s not better than that then it is not even worth it.

‘I realized that if I keep waiting until this feels right and perfect and better, maybe it’s going to keep taking forever and maybe it’ll never come out and no, I’m not down for that.’

Since dropping Anti, she hasn’t avoided the recording studio entirely at least.

In 2022, Rihanna released Lift Me Up, her first solo single in six years, as well as Born Again as part of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
