It was just last week that Travis Scott was running the show on the Hot 100. His single “4×4” debuted atop Billboard’s list of the most-consumed songs in the nation, but it wasn’t destined to rule for long.
“4×4” makes unfortunate history this week, as the former champion declines from the top spot to No. 57. That slip now stands as the largest drop from No. 1 in the half-century-long history of the Hot 100.
As “4×4” tumbles down the Hot 100, Scott collects another smash on the same tally. The rapper actually manages to debut a pair of tracks on different Billboard lists this time around, as he’s constantly working and teaming up with other artists for features that become hits.
Scott’s biggest new win this frame is “Reflections Laughing,” which is featured on The Weeknd’s new album Hurry Up Tomorrow. That track, which is fronted by the Canadian pop/R&B powerhouse, also credits Florence and the Machine in an unlikely trio.
The Weeknd’s tune opens on the Hot 100 at No. 53 this frame. It marks Scott’s one-hundred-and-twenty-first placement on the list of the most popular songs throughout the U.S. The same tune, which has not yet been chosen as a single, also becomes a top 40 hit on both the Streaming Songs chart (No. 40) and the Billboard Global 200 (No. 38).
It doesn’t quite reach that region on the Billboard Global Excl US, where it stalls at No. 51, as apparently American consumption, which is excluded from this list, was a major reason why the track performed so well.
Scott collects a different hit on another U.S.-based tally at the same time. He joins hip-hop musicians EST Gee and Lil Baby on “Houstatlantaville,” which reaches just one tally this frame. That tune enters the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at No. 50, in last place. Scott has now sent 135 tracks to that list, which is focused on total consumption, but only within hip-hop, rap, and R&B.
“4×4” may fall more than 50 spaces on the Hot 100, but it’s not done for just yet. This frame, the track picks up steam on radio and reaches a new peak on four tallies dedicated to that consumption method. The tune does step backward on other lists, ones which are centered around consumption, streaming, or sales, as it appears that interest from fans has declined significantly, just as programmers and DJs are putting the track into rotation.
