Snoop Dogg has been named the official Los Angeles Community Chairman for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission announced Tuesday.
In this role, the Long Beach native will represent the city, collaborating with other leaders to “engage the local community to help deliver a legacy that will positively impact the Los Angeles region well beyond the final match.” He will serve as a primary ambassador for the Host Committee’s community engagement and legacy initiatives, attend key events, and inspire global fans to begin their World Cup journey in Los Angeles, according to the LASEC.
Born in 1971 in Long Beach, Snoop Dogg has spent most of his groundbreaking career in his hometown, Los Angeles, becoming one of the most recognizable figures in music and entertainment. With more than two decades in the spotlight, he boasts award-winning, multi-platinum albums and hits, many of which pay tribute to Los Angeles.
The city’s SoFi Stadium will host eight matches during the tournament, including the U.S. Men’s National Team’s opening game. The action kicks off June 11, 2026, and continues through the final on July 19, 2026.
“It’s an honor to step up as the Community Chairman for the City of Angels as we get ready for the biggest game on the planet,” Snoop Dogg said in a statement. “We’re going to bring the world together. West Coast style – unity, respect and a whole lotta love for the beautiful game. LA, let’s make history in 2026!”
With Snoop Dogg at the helm, Los Angeles aims to deliver a World Cup celebration as vibrant and unforgettable as the city itself.
