Nicki Minaj praised President Trump for threatening military action against Nigeria over what he described as the “slaughter” of Christians. She said his message made her thankful to live in a country where people can freely worship and urged prayers for those facing persecution.
Trump posted on Truth Social that the U.S. might cut aid or even send troops to Nigeria “guns-a-blazing” to “wipe out the Islamic terrorists.” He added, “I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet.” His statement quickly sparked global attention and concern.
Meanwhile, Minaj shared a screenshot of Trump’s post on X, writing that it gave her “a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God.” She continued, “No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.”
When a fan argued that religion is often weaponized, Minaj responded that her concern was about Christians being murdered, not anyone’s sexuality, according to Independent. She also mentioned her own past experiences with police raids, saying that oppression and violence shouldn’t be ignored.
Later, Trump reaffirmed his position while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, saying he “envisage[d] a lot of things” to stop what he called record killings of Christians in Nigeria. Members of his administration supported his stance, while Nigeria’s president rejected accusations of religious intolerance, saying they did not reflect the country’s true situation.
Nigeria continues to struggle with violence linked to Islamist militants and local conflicts. International responses have been divided, with some calling for stronger protection of religious minorities and others warning that U.S. military action could escalate tensions.
