Jazz Urbane Cafe, a new jazz club and cultural arts venue in Nubian Square, will tentatively host its soft launch this May at 2300 Washington Street inside the historic Bolling Building. The event introduces a long-awaited space for live music, community gatherings, and upscale dining in Boston’s Nubian Square.
The venue’s CEO and Managing Partner, Charles Hunter, brings over 30 years of industry experience across the East Coast, alongside Bill Banfield, professor of music and culture, who serves as the cafe’s art director. Chef Guara Pimenta will lead the kitchen, bringing two decades of culinary knowledge to the table.
The venue will spotlight musicians and honor Boston’s artistic scene. The venue will feature live performances by local and national artists, curated programming that reflects the neighborhood’s diverse cultural and historical roots, and dining experiences to match. The cafe aims to fill a gap in the city’s high-quality jazz venues and position Roxbury as a destination for jazz enthusiasts and food lovers alike.
“This space is about feeling the music, not just hearing it. Throughout history, music, art, and food have always brought people together in hard times, and Jazz Urbane Cafe™ was built on that same power to unite the community,” says Hunter.
During the soft launch, guests, community leaders, and members of the press will receive an early look at the space, featuring live music, food and beverage offerings, and a preview of upcoming programming.
Media are encouraged to attend and connect with the founders, featured performers, and community partners. Further artist announcements and details on programming are expected in the coming weeks.
