The NFL Scouting Combine is designed to put the nation’s elite athletes under a microscope, but for KC Concepcion, the scrutiny extended far beyond his footwork and catch radius. The former Texas A&M wide receiver took to social media Sunday to address critics and trolls who mocked his speech impediment during media interviews in Indianapolis.

In a poignant statement shared via his Instagram Stories, Concepcion revealed that he has lived with a stutter for as long as he can remember. Rather than letting the online negativity dampen his professional milestone, he leaned into his platform to offer support to others facing similar challenges.

“I just wanna say something, if you have a speech impediment, there’s nothing wrong with us,” Concepcion wrote. “I have had this stutter since I remember talking. This is a part of me, this is who I am, I cannot control this.”

The receiver, who is currently projected as a potential first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, expressed a desire to be a source of strength for those who feel silenced by their insecurities. He noted that the weekend’s events taught him a great deal about himself and the nature of public opinion.

“Don’t let an outside person’s thoughts, opinions get in the way of you being great, of you achieving something in life,” Concepcion added. “I am blessed to be in the position that I am in, and I want to help give back to those who are scared to speak up, who aren’t as confident.”

On the field, Concepcion’s resume speaks loud enough to drown out any digital noise. After a productive two-year stint with NC State where he recorded more than 1,200 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns, he elevated his game following a transfer to Texas A&M. During his junior campaign with the Aggies, he posted career highs with 919 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 61 receptions. He also proved to be a dynamic special teams threat, returning two punts for touchdowns.

While Concepcion opted out of the 40-yard dash and jumping drills during the Combine, his individual workout sessions and tape have solidified his status as a Day 1 talent in next month’s NFL Draft. As he prepares for the next level, Concepcion made it clear that he will not be defined by how he speaks, but by the impact he makes.

“We are different for a reason,” he concluded. “I will always stand with you.”
