The only thing acclaimed private school amapiano record producer Kelvin Momo is known for more than his prolific ability to churn out quality albums in quick succession is his checkered track record when it comes to honoring bookings and performances he is slated for. This past weekend, Momo left his fans and Sun City Resort organizers in a state of consternation after the “Bo Gogo” hitmaker was a no-show for his performance that was due on the 16th of August 2025 at the Outside Event.

The organizers of the event took to Instagram to issue an urgent and cutting statement concerning Momo’s absence and him reneging on the booking.

“We regret to inform our valued guests that ‘Kelvin Momo’ will not perform at our OUTSIDE event, on the 16th of August 2025 as he has not arrived for the show despite being contracted, booked and paid for.

“Neither Momo nor his manager have responded to any of Sun City’s requests for an update. We along with our partners have exhausted every avenue possible to ensure that he performs. […] We sincerely apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience caused as a result of the unprofessional and poor conduct of the artist concerned which is beyond our control.” the statement said.

Kelvin Momo released a response in the form of a press statement the day after on his Instagram. While he apologized to his fans and the organizers of the event by saying he takes “full responsibility”, he ostensibly made no meaningful mitigations by stating what exactly happened to him that caused him to miss the show. In his statement, he said that there were “unforeseen circumstances and miscommunications that led to my absence.

The organizers of the event made provisions for Momo’s no-show by roping in dance producer Morda to fill in as Momo’s substitute.

It was not the first time that Kelvin Momo missed a gig he was supposed to perform at.

Earlier this year, the Ntsako mastermind faced a hefty lawsuit by Australian promoter Ace Events for failing to pitch up for an event he was due to perform at in the country. The lawsuit threatened even Momo’s stable with the prospect of liquidation.

The Kurhula star’s show attendance woes have permeated to other performances as well, with Momo also missing shows at Piano Hub, Makubenjalo, and Cafe 69 in the past, albeit in these instances he stated that he missed the shows due to being in poor health.
