San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White was injured in a shooting in the early hours of the morning on Monday, after watching his former team, the New England Patriots, fall to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium, to wrap up the 2025-26 NFL season.
White suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his ankle and underwent successful surgery.
“A preliminary investigation revealed a verbal altercation occurred between two groups inside a business,” the San Francisco Police Department said in a statement, via ESPN.com.
“The victim was injured when shots were fired by an unknown suspect.”
White was traded to the 49ers from the Patriots for a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL in exchange for a seventh-round selection and the defensive lineman.
White appeared in 11 games for San Francisco, recording 16 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery.
The San Francisco Standard shared new details about the incident, which has not yet had a suspect named. The incident happened at Daliah’s, a bar and nightclub, located at 1799 Mission St., which had several strippers on the main floor, and the private party, where White got shot, happened downstairs.
White reportedly got into an argument with rapper Lil Baby (whose real name is Dominique Jones) before being shot. A witness interviewed by the police said Jones’ entourage was on the main floor. As they attempted to enter White’s private event, tensions rose.
The player and the rapper ended up in an argument. When this person went upstairs to get assistance from management, he heard two gunshots. When he returned to the event, the defensive end had been shot in the left leg.
Police arrived at the location while partygoers were still leaving. Authorities asked White who had shot him, but he was uncooperative, according to the report. The player underwent treatment at a local hospital, a 49ers representative said.
Police found evidence that included a 9mm shell casing and a .45-caliber casing in the place. An abandoned cellphone was also found at the scene.
