Hollywood star and singer Selena Gomez is facing legal action from five investors who claim her mental health company, Wondermind Global, suffered serious financial and operational problems after she allegedly failed to deliver on commitments made to the business.
The investors are seeking approximately $1.2 million in funds they say they put into the venture, alongside additional compensation and legal expenses.
Wondermind was launched about five years ago by Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey and entrepreneur Daniella Pierson.
The initiative was designed to provide easier access to mental health information and resources, following Gomez’s public discussions about her personal experiences with mental health.
According to the complaint, investors were led to believe that the company had major commercial opportunities in development, including advertising agreements, celebrity collaborations and a mobile application.
Gomez was also allegedly expected to play a significant role in promoting and expanding the enterprise.
The claimants accuse the founders of making misleading representations about the company’s progress and allege that Gomez signed an agreement to undertake certain responsibilities but subsequently failed to carry them out.
The legal action further alleges that Wondermind struggled to meet basic financial commitments, including payments owed to staff members and suppliers.
The investors, who are based in New York and Florida, include Brent Saunders, the chief executive of eye-care company Bausch + Lomb.
They claim they remained unaware of the extent of Wondermind’s financial troubles for several years.
According to the complaint, they only learned about the situation after a September 2025 investigation published by The Cut examined the company’s finances and management.
The lawsuit alleges that several projects previously presented to investors, including proposed business partnerships and an application, failed to materialise.
It further claims that the company was deteriorating internally while its investors were not informed about its worsening condition.
Gomez remains identified as a co-founder on Wondermind’s website, while her mother currently serves as chief executive following Pierson’s exit.
The singer, who became famous as a child performer before establishing a successful music career, has more than 500 million social media followers.
She is also the founder of cosmetics brand Rare Beauty, established in 2020, and is estimated to have a fortune approaching $1 billion.
The allegations contained in the lawsuit have not been established in court, and the legal proceedings remain ongoing.
