Yella Beezy is set to face trial for the murder of Dallas rapper Mo3 on Monday (September 14), but he hopes to have more time to prepare for it. According to an exclusive AllHipHop report from Grouchy Greg Watkins, he and his legal team motioned for a judge to delay the proceedings after a jury convicted Kewon White of Mo3’s murder. White received a life sentence in prison with no shot at parole, and prosecutors accused him of receiving payment from Beezy to carry out the hit. Defense attorneys argued prosecutors did not prove the connection during this trial.
Yella’s team reportedly motioned for this just days after White’s verdict, specifically around Wednesday (September 9). We will see if the court responds in time today (Friday, September 11) to this request, as there are no further updates on this at press time.
The reason for the delay request is because Yella Beezy’s defense team wants the written record from Kewon White’s trial and ran into a scheduling conflict concerning an expert witness who will form part of Beezy’s case’s presentation. The witness, Julianna Moore, is reportedly an 18-year veteran of federal court proceedings and knows of benefits available to witnesses if they cooperate with prosecutors. It’s unclear, however, how this will relate to Beezy’s case.
“Moore isn’t available to testify during the week of September 21, 2026 because of a preplanned event,” Yella’s lawyer Toby Shook reportedly shared. “The White trial took two full weeks from the start…to sentencing. Thus, [Yella Beezy’s] attorneys expect to present his defense during the week of September 21, the week that Moore isn’t available.”
In addition, the defense team reportedly said ten days is an insufficient preparation period covering only five working days after White’s trial. The witness lists for both trials are reportedly almost indistinguishable from one another, indicating jurors will hear a lot of the same arguments and evidence.
Yella Beezy pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. Following Kewon White’s conviction, he claimed Beezy did not pay him for the murder. Beezy denies having anything to do with Mo3’s murder.
