On April 4, the “Still G.I.N. Lounge By Dre and Snoop” will open at 128 2nd Ave. N. It’s the latest addition in the basement level lounge of the four-level and 50,000 square foot Nashville Live! venue.
The news comes as Nashville’s mainstream country industry continues to blend sounds with West Coast hip-hop flavors.
The Still G.I.N. Lounge will be “an elevated nightlife experience” where “West Coast swagger meets southern soul,” according to a press statement about the venue. It will blend “the smooth sophistication of a top-tier cocktail lounge with the energy and cultural influence of the legendary duo.”
DJs, live performances and playlists will be “inspired by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg” and “bring the best of hip-hop, R&B and funk, setting the tone for unforgettable nights,” venue representatives said. Top-shelf cocktails will feature “the duo’s flagship new spirit offering, Still G.I.N. By Dre and Snoop.”
“The first ever location of Still G.I.N. Lounge by Dre and Snoop will bring an unparalleled cocktail and nightlife experience to Nashville Live! and all of downtown Nashville,” said Reed Cordish, principal of The Cordish Companies and CEO of Live! Hospitality & Entertainment. “We are thrilled to add this premier venue alongside some of the best sports, dining, entertainment and hospitality concepts in the country including PBR Cowboy Bar, DraftKings Sports & Social and Play Playground Nashville.
“We want to continue to give people memorable experiences to discover and appreciate the defiantly smooth Still G.I.N. By Dre and Snoop — especially its supreme mixability in the cocktail space,” said Andrew Gill, the Dallas-based chief strategy officer for the By Dre and Snoop brand. “Our collaboration with Live! Hospitality and Entertainment offers an authentic way to enjoy this ultra-premium spirit we’re so proud of.”
Expected libations will feature the By Dre and Snoop brand’s gin products on the new venue’s “bespoke cocktail” menu. They include:
The “Platinum Negroni” with bright citrus flavors of yuzu, grapefruit and lemon finished with baking spice
The “Bee’s Knees” with fresh lemon, wildflower honey, apricot liqueur and lavender
The OG-OF, a Bourbon-based and butter pecan-flavored Old Fashioned cocktail
The Nashville Nightcap, a tequila-based espresso martini with coffee and tiramisu notes
A year ago, HARDY paired with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre for a liquor-inspired cover of the latters’ 1994 rap classic “Gin and Juice.”
“A while back, I got a phone call saying that Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg would like me to record my own version of ‘Gin and Juice’ (for the short film accompanying the launch) of their new drink, Gin and Juice,” said HARDY in a press statement. “I’m still in disbelief, but I am so stoked that I’m dropping my version of ‘Gin and Juice’ with the blessing of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg themselves. Thankful for the opportunity.”
In Feb. 2024, Snoop and Dre announced a Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits-distributed line of gin-based cocktails named after Snoop’s “Doggystyle” album favorite.
“Together, we always try to create magic. We’re having fun being creative, and everything about this product is really us,” Dr. Dre said about Gin and Juice. “There’s passion behind it, friendship, love, and a culture. We’re shooting to make everything we do magnificent, and fortunately, most of the time, we hit the target.”
On the same November night that Snoop Dogg appeared onstage with Jelly Roll at Bridgestone Arena to debut their Dec. 2024-released cover of Tom Petty’s “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” the iconic emcee met singer-songwriter ERNEST, who opened for the Grammy-nominated Nashville native.
The duo have seemed close ever since.
Six weeks after they met, ERNEST teased a yet-to-be-released Snoop Dogg collaboration, “Gettin’ Gone.”
Just last week, Snoop returned to Music City to join ERNEST on a Cadillac transported via flatbed truck down Lower Broadway to a video for the song directed by Country Music Association award-winning director Dustin Haney.
One night prior, the hip-hop icon surprised a crowd of fans at Midtown dive bar favorite Losers by joining the band on stage for a special performance of “Gin and Juice.”
“I just had to come get some of this [expletive], I was finna leave but I heard this [expletive] playin’ in the background and I had to give it up,” Snoop Dogg said, of the band. “Man, ya’ll sound so [expletive] good I’m a have to take ya’ll on tour with me, I like the way this [expletive] feels.”
