Pop sensation Dua Lipa, has launched a $15 million (£11 million) lawsuit against Samsung, claiming the tech giant used her likeness on television packaging without her consent.

‎The lawsuit, filed on Friday in the US District Court for the Central District of California, alleges that Samsung prominently featured a photograph of Lipa’s face on various television models sold throughout the United States.

‎The filing asserts that the packaging was “designed to improperly capitalize on Ms. Lipa’s hard-earned success to promote and sell Samsung’s products.”

‎Lipa’s legal action includes claims of copyright infringement, trademark violation, and the unauthorized use of her image and likeness.

‎According to court documents, the photograph in question was captured during her performance at the 2024 Austin City Limits Festival, with Lipa retaining the copyright to the image.

‎The singer reportedly first became aware of her image being used on Samsung boxes in June 2025, coinciding with fans on social media dubbing it the “Dua Lipa TV Box.”

‎The lawsuit highlighted two specific comments from Instagram users, one stating they would “get that TV just because Dua is on it,” and another remarking, “If you need anything selling just put a picture of Dua Lipa on it.”

‎Lipa’s legal team claims that Samsung disregarded “repeated demands” to stop infringing on her rights.

‎The 30-year-old artist has established numerous commercial partnerships with brands like Puma, Versace, and Yves Saint Laurent, as noted in the court filing.

‎Additionally, she has collaborated with major brands such as Apple, Porsche, and Chanel, and recently took on the role of global ambassador for Nespresso.

‎Lipa’s latest album, titled Radical Optimism, was released in 2024.
