The official ribbon-cutting is to signify the grand opening of the Humor and Harmony Weekend, which is a four-day weekend benefiting Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s G-Unity Foundation. 

According to the G-Unity Foundation website, its purpose is to support and administer programs that foster conscious capitalism and social and leadership skills for youth nationwide. 

The Foundation, founded in 2005, contributes 1% to charitable organizations to alleviate extreme poverty and help the underserved. 

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneux and Curtis Jackson cut the ribbon and celebratedthe relaunch of Shreveport’s Downtown entertainment district at the Festival Plaza under the Commerce Street Arch. 

Orville spoke to the crowd about Shreveport’s potential: “The downtown of any city is the heartbeat of the city, and when the heartbeat starts, these veins out into the community and make the community stronger. So today, we are gonna signify opening the entertainment district in downtown Shreveport in a way only Curtis’ 50 Cent’ Jackson can do.” 

Mayor Arceneaux addressed the crowd at the ribbon cutting with excitement. 

“This has been an amazing thing that has taken place over 90 days. Remember, this all happened in 90 days,” he said. 

50 Cent and Mayor Arceneaux cut the ribbon together to celebrate Shreveport’s momentous achievement. Council members, city officials, and others gathered to join the celebration and ribbon cutting.
