Keke Palmer, the accomplished American actress and singer, made history by clinching the Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Game Show, becoming the first black woman ever nominated or victorious in this category. This groundbreaking achievement also marks her as the initial woman in 15 years, since 2009, to attain such a milestone, according to Deadline.
The 30-year-old star secured the prestigious award for her role as the host of NBC’s Password, a riveting American television game show where celebrity players and contestants form teams, endeavoring to convey mysterious words using only single-word clues to win lucrative cash prizes.
Palmer faced tough competition, triumphing over renowned hosts such as Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik from Jeopardy, Steve Harvey from Family Feud, and Pat Sajak from Wheel of Fortune.
Expressing her elation during the acceptance speech at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, Palmer exclaimed, “Wow. That is so exciting, thank you so much. I’m really just so thankful. I’m almost speechless. I want to thank the people who allowed this to happen, thank you to Jimmy Fallon, thank you to NBC.”
This victory adds another accolade to Palmer’s impressive career, which began when she landed her breakthrough role in the hit film Akeelah and the Bee at the age of 13. Notably, she had previously won an Emmy in 2021 for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for her role in the Facebook Watch series Turnt Up with The Taylors.
