Every week, it seems like Doechii finds a way to rise a bit higher on the Billboard charts, whether it’s with a new single, a re-released favorite, or her breakout album Alligator Bites Never Heal. She’s been steadily building momentum for months, and now, that effort has turned into a real breakthrough. This frame marks her biggest success yet on one of Billboard’s most important tallies.

Doechii Hits No. 1 With “Anxiety”

This week, Doechii scores her first No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. Her track “Anxiety” leaps from No. 4 to the top spot on the ranking of the bestselling digital tunes in the U.S.

In the latest tracking frame, “Anxiety” sold 11,000 digital copies across the United States. That sum is up a staggering 101% from the previous period, making it not only the top-selling track, but one of the fastest-growing cuts in the country.

Doechii has only reached the Digital Song Sales chart with three tunes. Surprisingly, two of those entries are almost versions of the same composition.

The solo rendition of “Anxiety” is now her first top 10 — and her first No. 1 — on the list. Just last week, a different version of the song, fronted by rapper Sleepy Hallow and built around an interpolation of Doechii’s original, peaked at No. 23. That marked her second win.

Prior to either “Anxiety” climbing the ranks, Doechii’s best showing on the chart came courtesy of “Denial is a River,” which opened and peaked at No. 22 just last month.

It took more than five years for “Anxiety” to become a No. 1 on a Billboard chart. Doechii originally shared the song as a promotional cut, and while it developed a passionate following online, it never received an official push on streaming platforms. Fans had to search for it on YouTube and SoundCloud — and many did, which helped keep the song alive through the years.

After recently taking home the Grammy for Best Rap Album and dominating headlines for weeks, Doechii finally re-released “Anxiety” as a full-fledged single. The response was instant, and explosive.

Thanks to its growing popularity, “Anxiety” is also a huge win across a number of other Billboard tallies. This frame, the track finds it’s way into the top 10 on the Hot 100, becoming the rapper’s first massive win on that list. The cut pushes from No. 13, where it launched only a few days ago, to No. 10.
