Billboard has announced that Bruno Mars’s “Uptown Funk” has claimed the second spot on the list of Top Hot 100 Songs of the 21st Century.
Billboard recently released a list of the most popular songs of the last 25 years, and “Uptown Funk” landed #2 on the list. It was quite surprised to see that the number one spot went to—drumroll, please— The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.” The song was released in February 2020 (right before the COVID-19 pandemic) and immediately went viral on TikTok.
“The track reigns thanks to a record 57-week run in the Hot 100’s top 10 from February 2020 through April 2021, including four weeks at No. 1,” Billboard shared. “It also logged a record, and staggering, 86 weeks in the chart’s top 40. In November 2021, ‘Blinding Lights’ [was] crowned Billboard’s Greatest of All Time Hot 100 Songs chart, dating to the weekly list’s August 1958 start.”
Rounding out the top ten are “Stay” by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber (3), “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO (4), “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas (5), “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran (6), “Last Night” by Morgan Wallen (7), “Closer” by The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey (8), “Levitating” by Dua Lipa (9) and “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey (10).
