The Jackson 5 scored many big hits during their time together, especially in the first few years when they were brand new. While several of those smashes are remembered fondly, it’s not often that they have occasion to find their way back to the Billboard charts. That’s not the case when it comes to their most popular holiday cuts, though, which do reappear on a number of competitive lists in the U.S. every December—and some of them are still present in the earliest days of 2025.
The sibling band scores two hits on a number of Billboard tallies this frame. When it comes to sales, one leads the charge, but when streaming is the focus, it’s clear which cut Americans prefer.
“I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” lands on two streaming-only rosters in the country this week. The Jackson 5 single even manages to re-enter the top 10 on one of them, giving the group a proper Billboard smash yet again, with a track that was released decades ago.
The Jackson 5’s “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” improves from No. 11 to No. 10 on the current edition of the R&B Streaming Songs chart. That’s the tune’s all-time high on the list of the most-streamed R&B-only cuts in the U.S.
The same track is also on the rise on one more American-based streaming list. “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” nears the highest tier on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart, where the single pushes from No. 19 to No. 13. In the past, it’s reached as high as No. 11, a position it almost matches this year—though it seems the band will have to wait to try again next season to do so.
The Jackson 5 actually block themselves from collecting several top 10s on the R&B Streaming Songs chart. One spot behind “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” stands “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” which lifts two spaces to No. 11. In the previous Christmastime, it has cracked the uppermost region, as it once peaked at No. 7.
While it might not be winning on the R&B-only streaming ranking, “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” is the bigger hit in America in many regards. It appears on four U.S.-centric Billboard charts—twice as many as “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” this week. In addition to the two streaming rosters, the Jackson 5’s other current smash also sold well enough to find space on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales (No. 10) and R&B Digital Song Sales (No. 5) rankings.
Both “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” and “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” are also worldwide wins this week. The singles appear on the Billboard Global 200, sitting just eight spaces apart from one another near the bottom of the top 100. The former of the two also returns to the Billboard Global Excl. US, which excludes all listening data from America, while the latter doesn’t quite manage to do so.
