Chris Rock is continuing to get back at Will Smith for slapping him at the 2022 Oscars by using the actor’s Emancipation movie as inspiration for his latest comedic comeback.

During a recent show at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, Rock joked about hate-watching Smith’s new slave film, saying he watched it just to see him getting whipped.

The comedian also contrasted Smith’s portrayal of Muhammad Ali in the 2001 biopic with his own role as a homeless drug addict in 1991’s New Jack City. This material is expected to be part of Chris Rock’s upcoming Netflix special, Selective Outrage, set to premiere on March 4th.

According to Page Six, Rock has been waiting for the opportunity to share his humorous take on Will Smith’s infamous Oscars slap, which occurred after Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s Alopecia during a G.I. Jane 2 bit. Rock’s title for the special, “Selective Outrage,” may even be a jab at Smith, who he claims practices selective outrage.

While Rock has only addressed the incident in his stand-up sets, Will Smith has publicly apologized for his behavior. In July 2022, the actor released a video expressing regret for his actions and stating that he had spent months working through the nuances and complexities of his outburst.

However, as the one-year anniversary of the slap approaches, Smith seems to be finding the funny side of it, as evidenced by a recent TikTok video in which he participated in an “unhinged exercise” and picked up his 2022 Oscars trophy
