A woman who accused rapper Jay-Z of raping her when she was 13 has formally withdrawn the allegations, stating that her claims against the musician were untrue.
The woman, identified as Jane Doe in court records, filed a lawsuit in 2024 alleging that she had been drugged and sexually assaulted by Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, and Sean “Diddy” Combs following the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000.
Both men denied the accusations, while the woman later discontinued the case in February 2025.
Carter subsequently launched legal action against her and her former attorneys.
In a declaration filed on Thursday, Jane Doe stated that Carter had never raped her and that she had never met or spoken with him.
She also acknowledged that her allegations involving Carter and Combs were false.
The woman said she understood that the accusations had caused Carter and his family significant distress and damage.
She further maintained that she had not received financial compensation from Carter or anyone representing him for making the latest statement. She also denied being threatened by the rapper or anyone connected to him.
According to her declaration, she encountered a Facebook advertisement in September or October 2024 seeking people with potential sexual-assault claims involving Combs.
She said the advertisement brought back memories of an alleged assault from when she was 13.
She claimed that lawyers subsequently contacted her but that she was not shown or asked to approve the lawsuit before it was submitted.
She also alleged that the legal team had filed the complaint without independently verifying or corroborating her account.
Carter’s lawsuit against the woman has now removed her as a defendant, although his legal action against her former attorneys remains ongoing.
Tony Buzbee, who represented the woman, told Rolling Stone that he had not seen the new declaration.
He said several lawyers had heard the same account from her before she became his client and that her latest statement represented new information.
Buzbee had previously accused Carter’s investigators of repeatedly intimidating the woman and attempting to make her withdraw her allegations.
Jane Doe has now rejected that claim, saying she received no threats from Carter or anyone acting for him.
Combs also denied the original allegations. His lawyer previously criticised the lawsuit as part of a series of civil claims brought against the music mogul.
Combs was convicted in July 2025, on prostitution-related criminal charges involving two former girlfriends and was sentenced to four years in prison.
